University of the Punjab, also termed as Punjab University (PU) is one the largest and oldest seat of higher learning in Pakistan. It was the first to be established in the sub-continent in a Muslim majority area.
The University comprises five campuses, 19 Faculties, 10 Constituent Colleges, and 137 departments, centers, and institutes. The University also has 658 affiliated colleges. It has 991 full-time/regular and 300 part-time faculty members involved in teaching/research and 49,520 on-campus students. (29,588 Morning, 18,838 Evening and 1,094 Diploma students). The two main campuses are located in Lahore, Allama Iqbal Campus (old campus) and Quaid-e-Azam campus (new campus).
Punjab University, PU has opened the admission for its undergraduate programs in different faculties. This post will explain few important things about admissions in PU.
Eligibility Criteria BS or Equivalent Program
- The candidates holding F.A/F.Sc or equivalent qualification with at least 2nd division and not more than 24 years of age shall be eligible for admission to BA/B.Sc/BS/ BBIT/ B.Com/ BBA/ BFA/ LLB (5-Years) /B.Arch/or equivalent programs in University of the Punjab/Affiliated Colleges.
- The candidates holding F.Sc. (Pre-Medical with 60% marks) shall be eligible in Pharm-D as well as holding F.Sc. (Pre-Engineering with 60% marks) shall be eligible in B.Sc. (Engg.) and not more than 24 years of age.
- The candidate holding 3rd division in terminal degree is not eligible for admission in BA/B.Sc/BS or equivalent program in University of the Punjab/Affiliated Colleges.
- Two marks shall be deducted from (percent academic) marks for each late session to a maximum of previous 5 sessions/years.
- Such applicant have to furnish an affidavit to the effect that he/she did not get admission in any Institution in the period intervening between the year of passing the Examination. and year of application for admission.(vide notification No. S.O (C.A)1-28/2015 dated 20th July,2016).
- Pre-Admission Entry Test shall be mandatory for the admission against merit as well as reserved seats (For the Departments/College/Institutes conducting, its Pre-Admission Entry Test). However, Foreign/GB/AJK/ KPK/ Sindh and Balochi applicants shall be exempted from the entry test.

- Such applicant have to furnish an affidavit to the effect that he/she did not get admission in any Institution in the period intervening between the year of passing the Examination and year of application for admission. (vide notification No. S.O(C.A)1-28/2015 dated 20th July,2016).
- 50% seats are reserved for graduates from Punjab University and rest 50% shall be filled on the basis of open merit. Pre-Admission Entry Test shall be mandatory for the admission against merit as well as reserved seats (For the Departments/Colleges/Institutes/Schools conducting, its Pre-Admission Entry Test).
- However, applicants seeking admission on the reserved seat of the following category i.e. foreign /GB /AJK /KPK /Sindh and Balochistan shall be exempted from the entry test.
